ABOUT TRAY DRYER

The most conventional form of drying is the tray dryers. This equipment is most effective with high hygroscopic material which does not need any mixing of agitation.

The material is spread across trays which are stacked in a compartment . There are various ways to dry the material in a tray dryer. Either a hot air current passes through the surface area of the compartment or a heating media is circulated through the shelves on which the trays are mounted. There is a circulation of air via blowers in order to ensure even heating along the inner volume of the dryer. This also reduces the possibility of condensation and contamination of material. The solvents that evaporate can also be recovered through a condensate and collected in a receiver outside the dryer.

Tray dryer having vacuum applications are called vacuum tray dryers. The drying time in a vacuum tray dryer is much lesser compared to a conventional tray dryer. These equipment’s have various applications in food and pharmaceutical industries. Vacuum tray dryers are preferred where drying time is critical and can lead to change of properties of the material.

Tray dryers can come in varied sizes ranging from 12, 24, 48,96 , 192, etc. The MOC can either be 316 or 304 depending upon client specifications and properties of product dried.
