NAUTA DRYER

PRINCIPLE

TThe working principle of the Nauta Blender and dryer is three-dimensional movement, originated from rotating elements in combination with a conical vessel.

  • The mixing screw conveys the product from bottom of the vessel to the product surface.
  • The oribital arm orbits the mixing screw along the inner vessel wall causing convective mixing of particles and shear.
  • The speed of particles in the downward mass flow when recirculated by gravity in a conical vessel increases as the vessel diameter decreases.

The result of these simultaneous actions is a fast and intensive mixing with low consumption of power together with high standards of mixing accuracy.

APPLICATIONS

The unique features of the Vertical Blender Mixer in combination with over 50 years of experience in the application of these machines has proved its suitability for many processes through out all industries. A few of the most successful applications are:

  • Mixing and homogenisation of powders, pastes and slurries.
  • Vacuum drying of pastes and slurries and wet cakes.
  • Addition or injection of liquids to or in dry solids.
  • Granulation or agglomerations of powders by the addition of a binder liquid.
  • Reaction under vacuum or pressure conditions
  • Crystallisation
  • Aeration or de-aeration
  • Densifying
  • Storage and discharge of products with difficult flow properties.
  • Homogenisation of colours and particles sizes
  • Cooling
  • Heating

Another important feature is the possibility to combine several processes in one machine giving huge savings in investment, labour and space.

FEATURES OF NAUTA BLENDER

EXCEPTIONAL MIXING ACCURACY

The Vertical Blender has been successfully mixing materials to an accuracy of 1 part in 10,000 or 0.1% or better. With no stratification or separation it thoroughly blends materials of widely differing densities and particle shapes and sizes.

SHORTER MIXING TIME

It achieves a thoroughly homogeneous mix in one third to one half the time required by most conventional mixers.

LOW POWER CONSUMPTION

Power requirements are much less than with other types of mixer. A 10 HP motor can mix a 4,000 pound batch V/S 25 to 30 HP of horizontal type of Blenders.

GENTLE MIXING ACTION

Fragile filaments and flakes are safe from breakage in this mixer, and mixing is accomplished with minimal heat buildup and aeration in the product.

EASY ADDITION OF LIQUIDS

Liquids may be piped in to the top of the mixer through a hollow shaft injection system, or smaller amounts can be jet-sprayed in to the mix at the bottom of the mixer, ensuring complete homogeneity.

FULL LOAD STARTING

Its screw agitator begins axially rotating and loosens batch material before its orbiting motion starts. This design feature prevents stalling and permits starting under full load in the event of power failure.

MIXING OF PARTIAL BATCHES

The Ross Vertical Blender mixes partial or full capacity batches equally well, with no reduction in mixing efficiency.

FAST, COMPLETE DISCHARGE

The mixer’s unique cone design provides for gravity unloading, gives cleaner, faster batch discharges.

EASY TO CLEAN

The top entering drive’s construction provides full product protection; there are no stuffing boxes in product zone. Its unique, obstruction-free cone shaped design makes thorough cleaning quick and easy.
